Worship & Ministry

“Will you continue in the apostles' teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of the bread, and in the prayers?”

Our sacramental life as a parish is integral to who we are at All Saints. There are many “moving parts” in an Anglo-Catholic Mass which requires a dedicated group of volunteers to ensure that what we offer is truly a “sacrifice of thanksgiving.”

If you're interested in any of these ministry opportunities or would like more information, email admin@allsaintsindy.org.

Music & Choir

The singers in All Saints Choir sing a season of forty-seven services from mid-September through mid-June.  The purpose of their music ministry is to support and lead the congregation through hymns and service music, thus creating a dynamic presence for God. Our rich Anglican tradition yearns for this musical dialogue. We are extra blessed with talented singers who bring wonderful choral music to our services. We are always looking for singers who are passionate about leading worship.

I came to All Saints because of the exceptional music and liturgy that is one of the gold standards of the Diocese! Ever since moving to Indiana in 2011, I have followed the music ministry at All Saints and I am thrilled to be a part of the future of this tremendous parish where everyone is truly welcome!

Sacristy Ministries

Altar Guild: The Altar Guild at All Saints is composed of several two-person teams who provide joyful and reverent service preparing the altars, the sacred vessels, the linens and the books for Sunday and weekday liturgies. Excellent work by the Altar Guild means that the ordained ministers and the acolytes can focus on their duties in the Mass and provide a seamless worship experience for the congregation. The Altar Guild is a wonderful way to serve the parish for those who would rather do so behind the scenes.

Bread Bakers: This ministry provides the bread used for Mass on Sundays and other feast days. Each bread baker is asked to bake bread three – four times a year.

Linen Ministry:  Individuals serving in this ministry care for the altar linens used during the Mass.

All Saints is widely known for its remarkable outreach and social ministries, but the glue which holds us together is our common desire to worship God in the beauty of holiness. At Mass, we see the clouds and smell the incense, we hear the bells and the chanting of ancient texts, we recite responses and sing hymns together, and ultimately, we feel the Body of Christ in the palm of our hand and taste it within ourselves. It is truly a sensual experience.

ACOLYTES

In the mid-1940’s, the congregation of All Saints enthusiastically embraced Anglo-Catholicism. For the past seventy-five years, Solemn High Mass has been the principal act of Sunday worship offered by the parish. The liturgy associated with Solemn High Mass calls for a large team of altar servers, or acolytes, as they are known in churches of the Anglican Communion. At All Saints, men, women and children are encouraged and welcome to assist at the altar. Our acolytes are assigned to teams that serve together about once a month. Adults and teenagers serve as subdeacons, thurifers, crucifers and torchbearers. Younger children may be introduced to this ministry by serving as boat bearers, who carry the incense container. Acolytes are trained by the master of ceremonies, who is appointed by the rector.

Greeters & Newcomer welcome

This ministry extends welcome to parishioners and visitors by distributing bulletins, assisting worshippers as needed, and participating in some parts of the liturgy during Mass.

As a foreigner, a member of the LGBT+ community, and a fairly recent Episcopalian, All Saints welcomed and embraced me unconditionally, giving me a voice and entrusting me with important duties. The welcoming of strangers is not lip service here!
— Bro. Jerome

Flower guild

All Saints is blessed to have a professional florist and designer as the Coordinator of the Altar Flower Guild who trains volunteers as part of his ministry. About six volunteers from the parish are trained on-site or at the coordinator’s place of business and learn by ‘doing-along-side’.

LEVs

Lay Eucharistic Visitors (LEV) bring the Sacrament to individuals who are unable to attend Mass.  This ministry is done on Sundays and special training is required.

HEALING ministry

Lay ministers offer prayers of healing during the Mass for anyone with a special intention and anoint them with chrism (holy oil).

Readers/Lectors

All Saints' lectors read the first lesson of the Mass each Sunday and at principle feast services. An annual training event prepares and reminds lectors how to declare the appointed lessons from the lectionary.

sound & sermons

This ministry is responsible for the sound system used during the Mass. Individuals are also asked to upload the sermon to the Soundcloud platform.
